Daisy & Paul go to Zutphen

Just by chance, Paul and I managed a weekend away in this wonderful, ancient, Dutch town. From the relaxing waters of the magical fountain to the musical accompaniment of the Draaiorgel in the Market Place. Do have a look at where we stayed - it's an incredible hotel, full of surprises. Hampshire Hotel, Gravenhof Zutphen.

A Motivational Meditation Moment

The original Musical Organ was in synch with the perfect sound of the bells from the many churches in the town. They all sounded on the hour, every hour, just like in Glastonbury and Wells, in Somerset.

This mechanical musical instrument is called a Draaiorgel. These Dutch Street organs have no player - the instruments are played by a moving music pattern. I wanted to give him a donation after I took this video, but I couldn't see him anywhere, I will make sure I find him when I go back to Zutphen, and if I don't can you please pay him for me!

I came to this town for the Vortex Healing Class, Sensing 3. Paul came for along for his own spiritual solace, which he found in a cool, refreshing glass of Leffe.

I found my spiritual solace in watching the water fountains and I'd love to share it with you, I walked around it for a motivational meditation, just like the video meditation I filmed in the garden of the Daisy Centre in the last blog.

Daisy and her Gold Bags on Tour

Zutphen was established in Roman times

It was raided by the Vikings in 882, afterwards a circular fortress was built to protect against further attacks. Zutphen became a city in 1190, making it one of the oldest medieval cities in the Netherlands. It became very wealthy due to it's position on its strategic confluence of the IJssel and Berkel rivers and has had great importance - having a court and a mint.

I loved this fountain in the centre of Zutphen, Holland
I loved the Vesica Pisces imagery, with the reflection of Paul and myself.

I love the feel of this town, the rich feeling from all the goods in the shops, they remind me of Wells. the cobbled streets and the many churches. With many quirky side roads with exciting and unusual buildings and sites. Mixing the old and the new, Harry Potter film was playing at the Luxor Theatre.

The magnificent Church of Saint Walburgis

The largest and oldest church of the city is the the eleventh century St. Walburgis church, which houses one of the five remaining medieval libraries in Europe - the old books are still chained to their ancient wooden desk.

We stayed here at the Hampshire, for the second time, it is fabulous, so wonderful inside, with a beautiful mix of old and new design. From oil painting murals to bronze angel sculptures, and a funky boardroom table with leather chairs.

Where are the Gold Bags on Tour going next?
